Creating your first Ruxter account is simple – just three easy steps and you?ll have a Ruxter ID, keyword, and Ruxter site!
Just go to Sign-up Now! and go through each of the three steps.
Step 1 is information about you for creating a login and password – nothing you haven?t done before – each field will pop up an explanation as you pass over it and fill in the information…
Step 2 builds your Ruxter organizational information – this will be used on your Ruxter site or your contact and location information. Step 2 is also where you choose a Ruxter keyword – the name your customers and members will text to 63636 – your Ruxter keyword is limited to 15 characters, but you don’t have to use them all! If you’re one of many stores in a group or franchise, try adding your store number or location information – ‘bobsdeli154′ or ‘bobsdelioakst’ – whatever best describes you to your local customers. It’s important to remember that your keyword cannot be changed – make sure you pick one that’s right for your organization.
Step 3 is where the fun begins – creating an instant mobile message! We’ll just text this first message to one phone, but you’ll be able to connect to as many of your mobile customers as you wish! Just follow the context help on each field – a name for your message, what you want the message to say, your mobile number (to test the message), and a start & end date for the message.
After you click ‘Finish’ in the 3rd step of the Site Registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to the email account you provided in Step 1. Clicking the link will return you to the Site Profile Editor. Just follow the link in the confirmation email to review your site profile, customize your mobile website, and create new promotions!
The Ruxter Site Builder application has five major functions:
These core functions are always located at the top of each page on the Site Builder (circled below). We’ll review the options on each of these functions in the pages that follow.
In Step 2 of the Registration page you provided information on your organization, your location and how to be contacted; in the Site Profile editor, you can change this information, customize your page colors and add graphics. Just click on ‘Edit Profile’ to enter the Site Profile editor.
Inside the Site Profile editor, you can modify the information that appears on your Ruxter ‘Contact Us’ page. This includes:
• Your Organization Name
• Address
• Contact Telephone Number
• Ruxter Site Category
• ‘About Us’ statement
• Your logo or other graphics
• The default site color scheme
• A box to ‘Add Click To Email’ – this feature allows mobile users to send a message from their mobile phones to an email address of your choosing.
When you’re finished editing in the Site Profile editor, just click ‘Save’ and your changes will be immediately updated on your site.
On the main page of the Site Profile editor, there are three additional site control options:
Create New Site allows new Ruxter sites to be created under the Ruxter account that you created in the three-step Registration process. The Create New Site page allows you to add site profile information as well as choose a keyword for your new site. Using Create New Site, you can create a Ruxter mobile website for each location in a group of businesses, manage multiple Ruxter sites for concerts and events, or any use where you want more than one mobile location.
With Select Site, you choose which of your Ruxter sites you wish to edit, and publish Messages for. Just click on the site you wish to manage and all Site Builder functions will work for the site you select –
Change/Transfer Site allows you to transfer a Ruxter site you created to a different email address. Using this feature, you can hand-off control of a site to another person within your organization to manage and modify without giving them access to the account you created in Registration.
Once you’ve created a Ruxter account, keyword, and site; you won’t need to use the Registration page again. Just use your email address and password to login to the Site Builder here …
Ruxter’s Site Builder customization tools found under Site Pages makes it simple to modify your Ruxter mobile website with your own text, graphics and links to outside sites and other Ruxter pages.
Your Ruxter site can be made of up to four top level pages, each with four subpages. A page may be one of three options, found under the Custom Page Type window at the top of the page (circled below). You can choose to:
1. Create Custom Page – modify text, graphics, and colors on each page.
2. Add a Ruxter Keyword page to link to any another Ruxter site.
3. Choose Link to URL to insert the page address to an outside website.
On the left of Site Pages is a navigation toolbar to let you know what page you’re working
with and its status. Here you can see if a page has been published, saved for future
publication, or not yet created.
Now let’s get to the good stuff. Choose Create Custom Page to create a custom Ruxter page, add text, links, and graphics. There are four options on each page:
1. A Page Title of up to 35 characters.
2. Contents of Your Page of up to 300 characters.
3. A Color Scheme for this page.
4. Choose File to upload a graphics file to the page.
After customizing your page, just click ‘Save and Preview’ to see it on the sample phone. When you’re ready to show the page live on your site, click ‘Publish’ and the page will be immediately available on your Ruxter mobile website.
TIP: Ruxter will automatically resize any graphics files you upload, so you don’t need to worry about the size. Keep in mind that the image will be seen on many different mobile phones – so it’s best to not use images with too many details, as they probably can’t be seen.
Adding a page on your Ruxter site that links to a Ruxter Keyword lets you link to any other Ruxter page – those you’ve created and those that others have created. Use it to link to other locations in a multi-location business, associated and affiliated organizations, or just Ruxter pages that your friends and family have created. All you need is the Ruxter keyword to link the pages together. Simply choose ‘Ruxter Keyword’ from the Custom Page Type pull-down menu, provide a title for the page (up to 35 characters, just like a custom page), and type the keyword in the ‘Ruxter Keyword’ field. Then click ‘Save’ and ‘Publish’ and you’re now linked!
Adding a Link to URL page to your Ruxter site will let you link directly to any page on the web. Adding an outside link is similar to adding a Ruxter keyword…just enter the website URL (http://www.) in the ‘Link Page To’ field. Since these are outside web pages, they are not being rendered by Ruxter’s Site Builder application.
TIP: External websites render on mobile phones differently depending on how they are written and the complexity of the content – some pages look great on mobile phones, while others may not even be viewable. Some web technologies – like Adobe Flash – do not show up on most mobile phones. Be sure to verify the external website is usable on a mobile phone by using the View Site tool.
You’ve created a great looking Ruxter site and have lots of customers opted-in and waiting to hear what you have to say. Now all you need to do is to create a Message and tell them about it! The Messaging link on the Site Builder toolbar gives you access to new message creation tools, information on your subscribers, available credits for messages, and archived messages.
Let’s start with Creating New Messages and reviewing Archived Messages.
Clicking on ‘Create New Message’ opens the New Message page. This page allows you
to create and customize all new messages, including:
1. A Message Title of up to 35 characters.
2. A Message of up to 300 characters.
3. Message Start – choose to send your new Message immediately, or delay it for release at a specific date and time.
4. Message End – choose to run your message for one day, one week, 2 weeks, or a specified end date.
5. The Send Message Alert box – choose this box if you want to send your message directly to your SMS opt-in recipients. Or leave unchecked to have the message just show on your Ruxter mobile website without being sent directly to mobile phones.
6. Upload Image/Logo to customize your message with a graphic.
Once you’ve completed writing and customizing your message, just click ‘Publish Message’ and Ruxter does the rest. Your Ruxter mobile website will be updated immediately. If you chose to send your promotion with a text message link to your customers, it will be sent to everyone currently opted-in (your subscribers).
To review expired and previously sent messages, click ‘Archived Message’
All Ruxter site creators receive 100 free text messages every month. These text messages are debited when new users opt-in to receive your messages on their mobile phones and whenever messages are sent using Create New Message. You can keep track of both your Total Subscribers and your Current Message Credits in the main Messages window. Since Ruxter lets you send messages directly to your customers and member’s mobile phones, you may want to send more than 100 texts per month. Ruxter makes it simple to purchase additional blocks of text message packs. Clicking on BUY MORE CREDITS opens the shopping cart….
The Ruxter shopping cart accepts Paypal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB. Just follow the steps to choose blocks of 500, 1000 or 2000 Message Packs and the type of card. Click Check Out to complete your purchase.
TIP: Your Ruxter Message Packs never expire! Purchase them by the month in smaller quantities or in multiple larger quantities to gain maximum advantage of Ruxter’s volume purchasing. Use your SMS text messages whenever it’s best for you and your customers – in one month, 6 months, or longer.
To check the organization, links, colors, and layout of your customized Ruxter site, choose the View Site button at the top of the toolbar. With View Site, your can click through all the links – both Ruxter keywords and outside URLs – to check how they look on your Ruxter pages. We use a typical smartphone layout for the View Site image. Your site may vary depending on the type of mobile phone itÅfs viewed on, but the site organization will always be exactly as you created.
